Trainer’s Tip Tuesday

A day late because I was exhausted. Less is more. When we are not getting the response we were looking for from our horse, we tend to get more animated with our aids. We get busier we and add more pressure. This has the same effect as talking louder to someone who speaks a different language. I can assure you the horse heard your aid the first time. They either don't understand, can't physically perform it, sometimes they are trying to negotiate a better deal with you. Before I do more, I first try to give and present the information again. Maybe I need to change or modify my presentation. Rarely is my first answer to do more at this point in my education. That doesn't mean that sometimes we don't add more. I'm just saying before you add, subtract and see how your horse responds.
