Severe weather. Unfortunately, Mother Nature doesn’t email us an arrival time for severe weather. As caregivers of livestock, we literally live and breathe information from our meteorologists. We become amateur weather trackers trying to make the best decision in no win situations. We can’t just throw the horses in the car and go. Most of us who are professionals, would need multiple trailers and trips to move our livestock. It often feels like you are in a no win situation.
So what can we do when severe weather threatens. The $10 million question.
Honestly, it depends. You aren’t going to try to outrun a tornado and those don’t give you enough warning. Fire and floods may give you lead time to evacuate.
