Are you giving your horse conflicting messages? Go forward but pulling backwards? This is a common problem with our riding and in particular our hands. We must remember the reins are not to contain or control. Connection begins in our seat and comes from the horse’s hind legs. Reins should help us refine. They can helps us maintain straightness at the base of the neck where it leaves the shoulders. They are connected to the bit to help us soften the jaw.
