Breaking behavior cycles takes time, patience, consistency, critical thinking and creative solutions. Many behaviors we see as undesirable or dangerous begin with pain, anxiety or poor communication between the horse and handler. Many times we try to modify what we are doing in an attempt to break the cycle but our modification is essentially still in the same behavior box. We have to stop being trapped in the box to break the cycle.
