The bit is not for containment or control of your horse. In fact, the horse really isn't designed to have something in its mouth or wrapped around its face (for those of you who are bitless). When you look at the bone, muscle, nerves, etc in the face and see how it connects to the rest of the body, it becomes clear that any interference around the face impacts the ability of the rest of the body to perform. Our bit is to mobilize the jaw and promote positive jaw movements. Licking, chewing, swallowing. It should not create tension. Jaw clamping, chomping, grinding, gaping.
